Here’s a list of ten desserts that are easy to make and are perfect for potlucks, parties or to serve to your own family for dinner.

The Best Mennonite-Style Desserts to Make for Dinner
Looking for the perfect way to end a family dinner on a sweet note? You’re not alone! Me, too.
Dessert just might be the best part of any meal, and I’m always on the lookout for pretty and easy desserts for family gatherings, or just because. Sweet treats that are easy, but also that the whole family will enjoy.
So, I made a list.
In this post, you’ll find 10 recipes (plus a few extra) for our favorite desserts to give you some ideas. They’re all fairly simple to make (or we wouldn’t be making them, to be honest) with mostly common ingredients from the local grocery store.

1. Strawberry Delight Dessert
This is a no-bake layered dessert with a graham cracker crust, creamy white filling then topped with a homemade strawberry sauce. No worries, if you don’t have time to make the sauce, a can of pie filling works great! So simple and always delicious, especially in fresh strawberry season.

2. M&M Dream Bars
Not only are these chewy M&M dream bars easy to make, they are delicious! A quick and simple dessert for when you’re in a hurry. Peanut butter, oatmeal, and M&M’s are the key ingredients. It’s hard to eat only one!

3. Thickened Fruit Salad Dessert
Thickened Fruit Salad is definitely a Mennonite classic. It all begins with a special homemade glaze, then you can add all of your favorite fruits to make it perfect for your family! I like them all – peaches, pears, kiwis, fresh berries, apples, bananas, mandarin oranges and more. If you try this one, be sure and come back to leave a comment! I want to hear your thoughts.

4. S’mores Bars
Enjoy the classic flavor of s’mores year round with this great recipe for S’mores bars! They’re chewy, chocolate-y, and plum delightful.

5. Chocolate Swiss Roll Bars
It’s no secret, I love chocolate. These chocolate swiss roll bars have a chocolate cake on the bottom, followed by a layer of creamy white fluff and a thin chocolate layer drizzled on top. They are sort of like those Little Debbie Swiss Rolls you can buy, but so much better!

6. Chocolate Peanut Butter Oatmeal Bars
These have a chewy oatmeal base with melted chocolate chips and peanut butter spread on top. Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars are definitely one of my go-to dessert recipes when I’m needing something simple, quick and easy. And they’re one of my favorites to eat, for sure!

7. Raspberry Jello Dessert Cups
Looking for something a little more fancy? Jello Dessert cups are not hard to make, look pretty on the table, and are a delicious dessert! You can even use any flavor of jello and fresh fruit (instead of raspberry jello and fresh raspberries) to coordinate them with the color and theme of a party.

8. Strawberry Cupcakes with Strawberry Buttercream Frosting
Got some strawberries that need to be used? A great way to use them up is to make strawberry cupcakes! Yes, these are made with real strawberries and if you use this sugar free gelatin you can stay away from unwanted ingredients like dyes.

9. Eclair Pudding Dessert
A childhood favorite of ours is Eclair Pudding. Layers of graham crackers and vanilla pudding then topped with a homemade chocolate frosting, this one is easy for children to make, as well as adults. Not to mention, it’s scrumptious!

10. Mini Cheesecakes (with Strawberry Topping!)
Mini vanilla cheesecakes are easier to make than the classic standard cheesecake, in my experience. You can make your own strawberry sauce to top them with, use your favorite pie filling, or eat them plain!

11. Chocolate Cream Cheese Cupcakes
There’s no need to make a separate frosting for these chocolate cupcakes, they’ve got their own cream cheese filling!

12. The Best Chocolate Cake
This list wouldn’t be complete without my grandma’s recipe for chocolate cake. It’s the best! Add some peanut butter frosting or chocolate pudding frosting on top for one amazing dessert! Ok, I may be biased. But it is amazing!

13. The Best Monster Cookies Ever
Lastly, monster cookies. They’re chewy on the inside, crispy on the outside, and delicious! And they can be gluten free (be sure to check your ingredients, though).
That’s a wrap! You’ve reached the end of the list of thirteen dessert ideas. Let us know in the comments which of these delicious options you tried!
