The Best Monster Cookies Recipe
The best? Really?
I know. Rarely do I claim that my recipe is the best. There’s a lot of good monster cookie recipes out there! But this is the best recipe I’ve found for monster cookies and today I’m going to share it with you. Here’s a few reasons to love it:
🤎 These monster cookies bake perfectly, no cookie sheet tapping or cookie flattening necessary! I dislike cookies that need help while baking to be a perfect cookie. Not these! I’ve never had this recipe flop either.
🤎 There’s no flour in this recipe, so monster cookies should be gluten free. (Check your oats, peanut butter, chocolate chips and M&M’s to make sure they’re certified gluten free! Some aren’t.)
🤎 You can customize these monster cookies like crazy. There are different little chocolate candies you could add instead of chocolate chips or M&M’s. Also, make these perfect for the season by using the seasonal colored M&M’s! For example, make Christmas Monster Cookies by using the seasonal red and green M&M’s instead of the traditional colors.
🤎 Monster cookies are delicious. When it comes to fresh-baked cookies, it’s hard to eat only one!
Hmm, monster cookies are probably almost my favorite type of cookie! (Traditonal chocolate chip cookies and chocolate marshmallow surprise cookies are right up there too, though!)

Supplies we used
- Electric Mixer – (aka Kitchenaid mixer) this thing makes mixing up cookies a breeze! However, you can use a large bowl and a hand mixer or literally mix by hand if you’d like.
- Measuring cups and spoons
- Spatulas – because you can never have too many of these!
- Cookie scoop – or a regular spoon works just fine too
- Pan – cookie sheets or baking pans
- Non-stick cooking spray to grease the cookie sheet (or you can use the butter wrapper!)
- Wire racks – for cooling the cookies. (Don’t have a wire rack? No problem! You can use a length of paper towel instead!)
- Metal spatula – to remove the cookies from the pan.

Ingredients
Butter – salted butter (if you use unsalted butter, you’ll want to add a pinch of salt to the recipe!)
Sugar – granulated white sugar
Brown sugar – light or dark brown sugar, it doesn’t matter
Eggs
Peanut butter – creamy peanut butter is our preference, though crunchy is fine too. We don’t recommend using natural peanut butter.
Oatmeal – preferably quick oats, though rolled oats or old-fashioned oats are ok too
Vanilla extract
Chocolate chips – semi-sweet chocolate chips
M&M’s – the regular milk chocolate M&M’s is what we like to use

How to make Monster Cookies
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
First, cream the softened butter and the sugars together. (We use a Kitchenaid stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment.)
Then scrape down the sides of the bowl and add the eggs, peanut butter, oats, baking soda and vanilla and stir to thoroughly combine.
Last of all add the chocolate chips and M&M’s. Stir a little bit more, just until the candies are mixed in.

Grease the cookie sheet(s) with non-stick cooking spray (or use the butter wrapper!) and use a cookie scoop to shape the batter into balls. Place them on the prepared cookie sheet about 1-2 inches apart from each other.
Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes until the cookies are just starting to turn golden brown at the edges.
Let the cookies cool on the pans for a couple minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Enjoy!❤️
How do I store Monster Cookies?
Store the cooled monster cookies in an air-tight container at room temperature for 3-4 days, in the fridge for a week, or in the freezer for a month or more!
Notes
Don’t overbake or they might turn into dry, crumbly cookies. Twelve minutes of baking makes a perfectly lovely, chewy monster cookie. Fifteen minutes of baking makes a crispier outside with a chewy middle. Keep in mind, ovens may vary a little.
You can add more chocolate chips and M&M’s if you’d like. Some folks like to just press the M&M’s into the top of the cookie dough balls before baking instead of mixing them in! Oh, and you can always change up the candy too. Like use white chocolate chips, butterscotch chips or peanut butter chips instead of chocolate chips and Reese’s pieces instead of m&m candies.
