Here's an Easy Homemade Taco Seasoning Recipe to make and use in place of the store-bought taco blend. Did you know it's super easy to make DIY taco seasoning? Yes! And it only takes like 5 minutes. And, there are no preservatives, unnecessary fillers or sneaky seed oils in this stuff. Just tasty taco seasonings!

Make your own Taco Seasoning, Better than Bought!
It all began one day in the aisle at Walmart.
I looked high and low. Here and there. I simply could not find the taco seasoning! I'm sure they have it, I just could not find it, for some reason.
So, I ended up coming home and making my own. I already had all the ingredients (and likely you do, too) and it was really simple.
And then. As with everything these days, before purchasing online I took a minute to check out the ingredient list on a bought can of taco seasoning. Maltodextrin, silicon dioxide, and vegetable oil? Really? I'm sure there are cleaner ones out there somewhere. But hey, if it's this easy to make my own, why not:)
We don't consistently do "Taco Tuesday", though ground beef tacos are definitely something I make fairly frequently. We also like Taco Soup and Taco Potato Haystack Casserole. And Taco Bell, very occasionally.
This recipe for taco seasoning makes a big batch; and by this I mean it makes enough to season about 8 pounds of ground beef. Or equal to about 8 store-bought packets.
One more thing. (My favorite part!) When you make your own homemade version of something, you can customize it! This taco seasoning is mild, I'd say. So if you want a little heat, you can always add something like cayenne pepper or more red pepper flakes. If you'd rather not add red pepper flakes at all, you can skip it or add black pepper. And play around with the spices, too.

Ingredients
- Chili powder
- Paprika - I get the smoked paprika if I have the option. If not, regular paprika is fine too!
- Cumin - ground cumin
- Oregano
- Onion powder
- Garlic powder
- Salt
- Red pepper flakes (this is optional)

Supplies You'll Need (and what we used)
- Measuring cups and spoons - these are so pretty, and fun to use in the kitchen!
- Mixing bowl
- Storage container - I use a glass mason jar for mixing and storing!
- Label - I'd recommend adding a label if using an anonymous jar like I do. I just wrote on the lid:)
