Not to mention the Peeps and chocolate eggs. (Fun fact, I’m a big fan of peeps; that Easter candy aisle gets me every year!)

Ingredients in this Rice Krispies Treats Nests recipe
Crisp rice cereal – we used Rice Krispies
Butter – salted butter
Marshmallows – regular sized marshmallows
Supplies we used
- Saucepan – to melt the butter and marshmallows together
- Stiff spatula – we like to use a stiff one specifically to scrape the sticky marshmallows from the sides of the bowl
- Large mixing bowl – such as this one to mix the Rice Krispies treats ingredients together
- Measuring cups – we used a half cup measure for a mold and a one cup measuring cup to measure the Rice Krispies cereal for this recipe
- Aluminum foil – or wax paper to set the finished nests on to cool and dry a little.
- Non-stick spray – it’s important to grease the measuring cup or whatever you’re using for a mold, and also your hands to keep the Rice Krispies treats mixture from sticking.
How to make Cute Rice Krispies Treats Peeps Nests
Prepare a spot to set your finished nests by cutting a piece of aluminum foil or wax paper and laying it out (a greased baking pan will work too!).
In a large saucepan on the stove top on medium heat, melt butter and add the marshmallows. You may want to turn the burner to medium-low heat and stir often until the marshmallows have melted down into a sticky smooth marshmallow mixture.

Combine the melted marshmallows and Rice Krispies in a large mixing bowl. Stir well to thoroughly combine.

Grease a measuring cup (we used a half cup measure) with non-stick cooking spray. Grease your hands with cooking spray or butter as well, so the Rice Krispy treats mixture doesn’t stick to everything.

Grab a pinch of the cereal mixture and press into the greased measuring cup, dishing out the center slightly creating a little “bird’s nest” shape.

Carefully slide the nest out of the measuring cup and place on the prepared sheet of foil or wax paper.

Repeat until you have 10 nests. Allow them to cool for 10 – 15 minutes.

Once they have cooled, place several Cadbury mini candy eggs in each one and top each one with a Peeps marshmallow chick.

Enjoy!
Storage
These are best the day they are made! However they can be stored at room temperature in a single layer in an airtight container like this one for 5-7 days.
Notes
We used a half cup measuring cup for a mold, but a muffin tin or a silicone mold would work just as well to shape the nests.
Instead of regular marshmallows, you can use 5.5 cups of mini marshmallows in the rice krispie treat nests recipe.
Customize your Rice Krispies Treats Peeps Nests
This is such a simple recipe, (I guess you can call it a recipe!) there’s not too many different ways to customize, but here’s a few of our favorite ideas:
Cocoa krispies instead of regular rice krispies make a more real-looking brown nest, if you are fine with the chocolate flavor.
We used Cadbury eggs, but there are alot of candy egg options available this time of the year. For example, jelly beans or peanut M&Ms would work well for eggs in the nest.
There are different colors and flavors (seemingly more very year!) of Peeps marshmallow chicks – use your favorite!
