These delicious ham & cheese tortilla pinwheels are always a crowd pleaser, and they come together super fast too! Looking for an easy and simple recipe to make for an appetizer or snack? Ham & cheese tortilla pinwheels are the perfect solution.

“Hmm, what shall I make and take along for snack at the party tonight?” was a question I recently asked myself. It’s the tradition to have each family or couple bring a dish of something for a treat in the middle or at the end of the evening. Especially in this case, since we were going to a Rook tournament, and those tend to last a few hours! Tortilla pinwheels quickly came to mind, as they are one of my go-to’s when it comes to treats and snacks. (Click here to learn more about us!)
I love how easy and quick tortilla pinwheels are to prepare, and they’re always a hit! Ham and cheese is probably my favorite, though another bonus to making these is they are very customizable! For example, you can add any of your favorite vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, onions, peppers, or even another deli meat, such as shaved turkey or beef.
And, another bonus, you don’t have to have any cooking expertise to make a tortilla pinwheel – making this recipe perfect for beginners, or maybe even small helpers in the kitchen!
Tips for Making Tortilla Pinwheels:
- Quickly soften your cream cheese by setting the whole block, still in the package, on the lowest heat setting of the warm zone on the stovetop. Keep an eye on it, and flip over when necessary. This will result in nicely mixable and spreadable cream cheese!
- Grate your own cheese, for better flavor and quality! Not to mention, there are more cheese options to further customize your tortilla pinwheels if you grate your own from a block. Learn more about shredded cheese here.
- If you have access to a deli, freshly shaved deli ham or any custom shaved meats will generally be tastier and better for you!

How to Make Ham & Cheese Tortilla Pinwheels
Soften your block of cream cheese.
On a clean surface, lay out 5 medium flour tortillas.
Mix cream cheese and ranch powder together.

First, divide cream cheese mixture among your 5 tortillas, spreading within about half an inch of the edge.

Then divide your deli meat among your 5 tortillas, layering evenly.

Add your shredded cheese, dividing among your five tortillas, on top of the deli meat.

Now you’re ready to roll them up! Carefully roll and place seam side down in a pan or storage container.

Ideally, they should be refrigerated a few hours before slicing and serving; however, you can skip this step if you’re in a pinch!
Finally, cut off the ends and slice about an inch wide. Serve, and enjoy!
