This easy recipe features classic, colorful jello and marshmallows rolled up in a pinwheel. All you need are 3 simple ingredients and a little bit of patience to make this delicious, eye-catching treat!

Jello Marshmallow Pinwheels (or jello roll ups, as some call them) is an easy and fun snack recipe to make with children! It’s amazing and fun to see how it will separate into two distinct layers.
Not only are these so much fun to make, but they’re also fun to eat!
This is one of those great recipes for school treats (or after school snack!), birthday parties, holidays, or a fun little sweet treat for your family, just because.
There are a lot of jello flavors out there, as we all know. (Especially if you go online!)
My favorite would most likely be raspberry.
So literally, you can customize the color of your jello pinwheels to go with the theme of your party!
Today I chose green jello, or lime flavored, rather. St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner. Do we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? No, not usually; it’s just another day.
But I do love a good snack any day of the week, in any season, and I’m always on the lookout for new recipes in the snack department!
And for some reason, Easy Jello Marshmallow Pinwheels came to my mind today; they’re the perfect simple treat!

Ingredients for Easy Jello Marshmallow Pinwheels – Green Version
Water – preferably filtered, or tap water is fine too, whichever you wish.
Gelatin – select the flavor of jello of your choice, we used lime.
Marshmallows – miniature marshmallows.
Supplies we used:
- Pyrex glass measuring pitcher
- Mini silicone whisk
- Measuring cup
- 9 x 13 rectangular pan
- Non-stick cooking spray
- Cutting board
- Rada knife
How to make Easy Jello Marshmallow Pinwheels – Green Version
First thing, lightly grease a 9 x 13 pan with non-stick cooking spray.
Microwave method:
Heat the cup water in a microwave safe bowl or glass bowl (a Pyrex glass measuring pitcher works great for this!) in the microwave until it’s boiling, about 2 minutes.
Dump in the gelatin and stir with a little whisk until all the gelatin is dissolved.

Add the mini marshmallows in with the gelatin and return to the microwave to heat for another minute.

Stir with the whisk until all the marshmallows are melted and you have a smooth gelatin mixture.

Pour the gelatin mixture into the greased pan and carefully transfer the pan to the fridge to cool.

Chill jello in the fridge for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes is up, the jello should be set but still a little bit sticky.
With your hands, start at one of the short sides and carefully roll the jello, “jelly roll style” or “cinnamon roll style” into a jell-o marshmallow log.

(You may need to take a butter knife or spatula around the edges of the pan just to make sure it’s loose, before rolling!)
Place seam side down on the pan. Cover and refrigerate for another hour or until completely chilled and solid.

Transfer the jello log to a cutting board and use a sharp knife to cut off the uneven ends; then slice the log into 8 approximate half inch slices.

Enjoy!

Stovetop method:
We used the microwave to make these, but you can also make the jello mixture on the stovetop.
In a saucepan on the stovetop, heat the water until boiling.
Dump in the gelatin and stir with the whisk until gelatin is dissolved.
Once jello is dissolved, add the marshmallows and continue to whisk until all the marshmallows have also dissolved!
Pour the jello mixture into the greased 9 x 13 pan and carefully put it in the fridge to cool.
The rest of the instructions are the same as the microwave method above.
Notes
Store jell-o marshmallow pinwheels in an airtight container for up to 5 days in the refrigerator.
Cool thing about this recipe is you can use different colors and flavors of gelatin to make these just perfect for your party or different holidays, or simply to use up what you have in your pantry!
If you want smaller pinwheels simply divide the jello mixture among more pans or one larger sheet pan. Keep in mind, a thinner layer of jello will set up faster, and you may be able to roll the jello before 30 minutes is up.
