Fun Gummy Snacks made with only 3 Ingredients!
Hey, hey! It's time for another fun snack recipe! And this one was actually inspired by my toddler:) I have these gummy vitamins that I give to her each day, but the problem is, she'd gladly eat a bunch of them and her daily amount is only one. And she will beg for them throughout the day, too.
So, since I enjoy making healthier alternatives to common foods from the grocery store when I can, I decided to make some homemade gummy bears! (And since I didn't have enough gummy bear molds, the rest got turned into squares:)
Also, I've been reading lately how good gelatin (and collagen) is for healthy skin, hair, nails, bone and gut health. "Eat your skincare," encouraged one article. And, gelatin contains protein! Or actually, gelatin literally is a protein derived from collagen, which is found in bones and skin from animals. (Hence the reason bone broth is good for you, too.) Ok, I'll stop and let you do your own health research:)
Today I'm sharing a super easy gummy recipe! Here's what's great about it:
🍯 Only 3 ingredients - juice, gelatin and honey. (And the honey is optional!)
⏳ Quick and easy - I was on the phone with my mom while I made these, so I'm going to need to go back and check how long it took, but it was less than half an hour!
✨ Healthy sweet snack idea!
These gummies have a somewhat chewy gummy texture, and they actually are similar to finger jello, if you know what that is. (Just without all the artificial flavors, colors, dyes, sweeteners and stuff found in Jello!) When they're done, you should be able stack them and they won't stick together!

Three Simple Ingredients
- Fruit juice - I selected this pomegranate cranberry juice this time. I like to go for any juice that is 100% real fruit juice with no added sugar. (And ideally no other added ingredients, though I see this one does contain "natural flavors".🫤)
- Unflavored gelatin - preferably a high quality unflavored grass-fed beef gelatin. Honestly, I'm not sure what kind mine is, since I threw away the original bag!
- Honey - or another sweetener such as maple syrup or stevia. Or, you can skip the sweetener altogether!
Supplies You'll Need (and what we used)
- Saucepan - I used my small saucepan (I believe it's a 1-quart)
- Whisk - to stir the gelatin mixture
- Measuring cups
- Gummy molds - you can find all sorts of silicone molds on Amazon (I found little molds for gummy worms, bears, hearts, dinosaurs and more!) or just use a pan to pour the gummy mixture into. I filled my gummy bear molds first, then poured the rest into a greased glass dish.
- Medicine dropper - if using teeny, little gummy bear molds like me, you'll definitely want a dropper to do the filling. I used a syringe from the medicine cabinet!

How to make Healthy Homemade Gummies
First, mix the gelatin and the fruit juice together in the saucepan. Let the gelatin "bloom" (rehydrate) for 15 minutes or so, until it turns into a thick and spongy-looking mass.
Then place the saucepan on the stove on low heat. Stir occasionally until the gelatin is dissolved completely. (Keep the heat low; boiling will ruin the gelatin.)
Remove from the heat and mix in the honey.
Pour the mixture into molds or a greased pan. Tap the molds gently to pop any air bubbles. Refrigerate until firm, about 2 hours. (If they're still a little sticky, let them chill longer.)
Pop the gummies out of the molds (or cut them into squares if you used a pan) and enjoy!

How to Store Healthy Homemade Gummies
Store the gummies in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Since they contain no preservatives, you'll want to eat them up within a week!
Tips, Tricks and Notes on making Homemade Gummies
- Use any kind of juice! Some juices may not harden quite as firm or take longer to set, but any should work for gummies. (Except pineapple. Supposedly that one won't set without being diluted by half with another juice.) You can even try different flavor combinations or substitute some of the juice with a real fruit puree. If I'd have one of those juicer gadgets, I think I'd try fresh juice!
- Taste the mixture before pouring into molds. This way you can add a little bit more honey (or other sweetener) if it needs more! (You can add up to ¼ cup more honey and still have nice, firm gummies.) Or add a splash of lemon or lime juice to "brighten" the flavors.
