A cool piece of finger jello is the easiest recipe to make, perfect for a hot, summer day. All you need is three simple ingredients!

Looking for a fun and easy snack or treat this season?
Look no further, this one’s for you!
Children love it (and adults, too!) so it’s perfect for birthday parties, or other gatherings where a treat is served.
You might be wondering, how is finger jello different from the regular jello recipe made according to package instructions?
It tastes the same, but it has an additional ingredient to make it a little bit more firm so you can cut it into little squares, perfect for little hands to hold, hence the name “finger jello.”

There are so many pretty and fun desserts you can make with a simple box of jello.
One great thing about this colorful finger jello recipe is the fact that it’s one of the easiest snacks ever, plus, it’s a great alternative to candy!
It’s also a fun and easy recipe for children to make in the kitchen.

Supplies you may need
The following items are what we used or something similar!
- Saucepan – to heat the water. You can also use a microwave safe dish and the microwave to heat the water. (See instructions below.)
- Whisk – to stir the jello mixture until no granules remain.
Measuring cups and spoons – to measure the ingredients, of course.- 9 x 13 pan or container – this one from Tupperware works wonderfully for this recipe! Glass pans such as a Pyrex pan work too, they just don’t have square corners.

Ingredients
Gelatin – choose your favorite color or flavor of jello! We chose one of our favorites: apricot.
Unflavored gelatin – plain gelatin (or knox gelatin) is the important ingredient to turn regular jello into finger jello.
Water – good old water.
And that’s it! It’s so simple, yet so refreshing and fun.

How to make our Fun and Easy Apricot Finger Jello Recipe
First thing, heat 2 cups of water until boiling in a saucepan. (Or you can simply heat the water in the microwave in a microwave safe dish!)

Once the water is boiling, dump the jello and the unflavored gelatin into the hot water and whisk.

Keep stirring the hot jello mixture until all the gelatin granules have dissolved.
Add the other 2 cups of cold water and stir.

if you still see lots of bubbles and maybe little clumps of sugar and gelatin on the surface of your jello, don’t panic; simply pour the mixture through a strainer to help get rid of them!
Pour the gelatin mixture into a 9 x 13 pan. (In case you’re wondering, no, we did not grease our pan, though you totally can if you wish to!) You can use a lid or plastic wrap to cover the jello, or you don’t have to. (We didn’t!)

Carefully transfer the pan to the refrigerator and allow the jello to chill for 3 hours or until it’s good and firm.

Once the jello is firm, cut into 24 small squares with a knife (also, cut around the edge of the pan with the knife) and use a mini serving spatula to remove the squares from the pan.
Serve and enjoy!

Storage
Store jello squares in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 10 days.
Customize your finger jello
With such a simple and fun recipe, there’s not a whole lot you can do to customize it, but here are our favorite ideas just for fun:
We used apricot jello, but of course you can use different flavors or different colors to match a party theme! (This easy finger jello recipe makes a great snack for children’s birthday parties!).
Instead of cutting the jello into squares, you can use cookie cutters to cut out fun shapes! Or use a silicone mold to make different shapes.
To make this into more of a dessert, add fruit to the jello. For example, we used apricot jello, so we would add an orange fruit such as peach slices (or chunks) or mandarin orange slices. For blue finger jello you could add blueberries, and cherries or strawberries would go great with red jello. Or, the fruit doesn’t have to match at all! You do you. If you’re using canned fruit, you’ll want to drain off the juice.
Instead of making a thin layer of jello in a 9 x 13 pan, you can pour the jello into a serving dish. Once it’s chilled (it may take a little longer than three hours this way!) garnish with a layer of cool whip for a fun and very simple dessert! If you choose to do this, you wouldn’t need to add unflavored gelatin, obviously, since it’s no longer finger jello at this point; it’s just a regular jello dessert!
