Classic little smokies wrapped individually in crispy bacon and topped with caramelized sweet brown sugar – the perfect combination. It’s the easiest appetizer ever!

A pocket to time and a few simple ingredients (three, to be exact!) is all it takes to whip up these delicious and tasty bacon wrapped little smokies, or “pigs-in-a-blanket” as my husband calls them.
They’re perfect for an appetizer but not only that; they make a wonderful light lunch protein option, snack (after school snack, maybe?), or even a great finger food for a party.
Another great thing about these bacon wrapped little smokies is the fact that they’re very budget friendly. We picked up these beef little smokies at the local grocery store for less than two bucks.
Thinly sliced bacon is key for this recipe. Too thick and it won’t crisp and bake as nicely. We like to purchase bacon at Aldi; often you can get a pound of bacon for a few dollars.
And as for the brown sugar, we’re not really partial to any certain brand.

I’m thinking these bacon wrapped lit’l smokies will hit the spot for lunch on this random Tuesday. I want something simple and not too time intensive and these will be the perfect thing!
So. If you’re needing a new easy appetizer recipe for your next party or holiday gathering, here you go. (You may need to make a double batch!)
We think this is a delicious appetizer and would love to have you follow along as we make them today! Bacon Wrapped Little Smokies may just be one of your new favorite appetizers.

Supplies you may need to make Bacon Wrapped Little Smokies
- Baking pan – we like our Nordic Ware sheet pans and they get used heavily in our kitchen. You’ll want a baking dish with sides to contain the bacon grease!
- Kitchen scissors – it’s very handy to have a nifty little kitchen scissors to cut the bacon.
- Measuring cups – I’m all for things that are functional at the same time as aesthetically pleasing, like these.
- Aluminum foil – this is optional; you totally don’t need it though it certainly makes clean-up a lot easier!
- Cooking spray – to grease the sheet pan.
Three Simple Ingredients

Little smokie sausages – we used beef lit’l smokies. “Lil smokies”, “little smokies”, “cocktail sausages”, any of those will do.
Bacon – the thinner the bacon slices, the better.
Brown sugar – ours was light brown sugar this time around, though we’re not picky for this recipe. Any brown sugar will do – light, dark, any brand, as long as it caramelizes on top creating that lovely sweet flavor.

How to make our Simple Sweet Bacon-Wrapped Little Smokies Recipe
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Grease your sheet pan with cooking spray, butter, or olive oil. (You can also line the pan with aluminum foil and then grease it to help with cleanup!)
Take a kitchen scissors and cut the 8 slices of bacon into thirds, creating 24 small pieces of bacon.
Wrap each individual lit’l smokie in a little piece of bacon and place them seam side down in a single layer about an inch apart from one another on the prepared baking sheet.

Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly on top of the bacon wrapped little smokies.

Bake the bacon wrapped smokies at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes until the bacon is golden brown or reaches your desired level of done-ness. (Cooking time may vary depending on your oven and the thickness of the bacon as well.)
Serve and enjoy!

Notes
Dipping sauces such as barbecue sauce are a fun addition to bacon-wrapped smokies.
There probably won’t be exactly 24 little smokies in the package, so you may need a ninth slice of bacon.
We’ve already used toothpicks to hold the bacon and little smokies together, but we think it works just fine without and prefer to skip that extra step!
A fourth cup of brown sugar is about perfect for this easy recipe, but definitely follow your heart and add as much or as little as you wish.
Storage
Store leftover little smokies in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 5-7 days.
