Our Easy Healthy Chocolate Bark Recipe is quick and easy to make with all good-for-you ingredients! It’s the perfect sweet (and healthy!) snack to enjoy throughout the day.

A Homemade Sweet Snack That’s High in Healthy Fat
You might be wondering, healthy, sweet and still delicious? Is that even possible?
I’m here to tell you, yes it is! With only five ingredients and about fifteen minutes, you can whip up a sweet treat that is also a healthy treat!
Let me give you a little back-story. So, here a while ago, I was in search of healthy bed-time snacks to feed our one-year-old daughter so she can (hopefully) sleep all night without getting hungry.
“Foods high in healthy fats like avocado and eggs,” they said.
Well, our baby quickly got tired of avocado, and I started searching for more ideas, which is when I happened across this easy recipe! Not only is our baby excited to eat homemade chocolate bark, but my husband and I love it, too. Even me, a chocolate addict!
Ingredients for Easy Healthy Chocolate Bark

Coconut oil – the base of this “chocolate” is healthy fat, aka coconut oil. I like to choose one that is cold-pressed and unrefined. As long as the coconut oil is solid, it should work. The liquid coconut oil doesn’t work for this recipe!
Cocoa – either the regular cocoa powder like Hershey’s or the Dutch processed cocoa works well in this recipe.
Peanut Butter – any creamy peanut butter should work (or crunchy, for that matter), though if you want to make sure your chocolate bark is healthy, get a natural peanut butter!
Maple syrup – here’s where the sweetness comes in; I use the pure maple syrup.
Salt – (the best part!) coarse sea salt flakes add a fun and tasty touch to this chocolate bark.

Supplies to Grab:
- Saucepan – a small saucepan or pot to melt the chocolate mixture in
- Whisk
- A spatula or two
- Measuring cups and spoons
- Sheet pan – a cookie sheet with sides! I used a bakers half sheet pan this time and that was almost too big; I ended up with a pretty thin layer of chocolate bark! A 9×13 or jelly roll size works better, and the bark will be thicker then, too.
- Parchment paper – or aluminum foil to line the pan

How to our Easy Healthy Chocolate Bark Recipe
In a saucepan on medium-low heat, melt the coconut oil and peanut butter.
Add the cocoa and maple syrup and whisk thoroughly.
Spread a piece of parchment paper in the bottom of a rimmed baking sheet and pour the melted chocolate mixture into the prepared pan.
Refrigerate (make sure the pan is setting on a flat surface!) for about 10-15 minutes until the chocolate is starting to solidify, then sprinkle the top of the chocolate bark with sea salt flakes.

Refrigerate a while longer before breaking into chunks (or cutting into chunks with a sharp knife) and transferring the chocolate bark to a container.

Enjoy!
How to store Chocolate Bark
Place the chocolate bark pieces in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator (or at room temperature as long as it stays below about 75 degrees!). You can also freeze these healthy chocolate treats for later.
Tips, Tricks & Notes
Coconut oil melts at about 76 degrees Fahrenheit, so I like to keep my chocolate bark in the fridge!
Break the chocolate bark into small pieces so you can pop the whole thing into your mouth and don’t need to worry about the chocolate melting in your hand and making a mess.
If you don’t feel like messing around with chilling the chocolate bark a little before adding salt, you can either skip the salt entirely (not recommended) or just add it right away even though it’ll sink into the chocolate.
Instead of making a chocolate bark, you can pour the melted chocolate mixture into a silicone ice cube tray or mold!
Easy Healthy Chocolate Bark Add-ins
And now for the fun part – customization! Here’s a list of ideas of ingredients you can add to decorate your healthy chocolate bark.
- Coconut flakes
- Seeds like pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, etc.
- Dried fruit or fresh fruit
- Nuts
What are your favorite toppings? I haven’t tried most of these, so if you give any of them a try, let me know in the comments which flavor combinations you tried and how it turned out!
