Homemade Peanut Butter Oatmeal Granola
Skip the sugar (and who knows what else)-packed, store-bought granola and make your own at home! It’s very easy to make your own granola at home with a few basic ingredients you just might have on hand already. It’s healthy, too; there’s no added sugar!
You won’t need any fancy equipment, either.
Another plus, it doesn’t take long to whip up a batch of granola, pop it in the oven, set a timer and get other things done while it’s baking.
Granola can even be gluten free! Just make sure you get the certified gluten-free oats.
There are different ways to eat granola and our two favorite ways are: with yogurt and fresh fruit or granola with milk. And hey, plain granola makes a great healthy snack! I like to have it on hand for a mid-morning snack, whether I choose to eat it plain or take the time to make a tasty parfait.
Six Simple Ingredients

- Oats – either quick oats or the old-fashioned oats or rolled oats (I used rolled oats this time)
- Butter – I use salted butter
- Honey – raw local honey is usually what I have on hand
- Peanut butter – your favorite kind of peanut butter (it can even be chunky, if that’s your preference!)
- Vanilla extract
- Salt – sea salt (or any) but sea salt is probably my favorite

Supplies we used

- Large bowl – for mixing
- Measuring cups and spoons
- A spatula or two
- Sheet pan – a pan to spread out the granola and bake!
- Parchment paper – this is optional, though it does work great to line the pan with parchment paper for easier cleanup.

How to make Peanut Butter Oatmeal Granola
Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F.
In a small saucepan on low heat on the stovetop, melt the butter then add the honey, peanut butter, vanilla and salt and whisk until it’s smooth.
Place the oats in a large mixing bowl, pour the peanut butter mixture over top and stir to coat the oatmeal thoroughly.
Place a sheet of parchment paper on a sheet pan and spread the granola mixture evenly on the pan. Bake at 250 degrees for about an hour or until the granola is turning a toasty golden brown color.

Let the granola cool completely, then break into little chunks and place into a storage container. Enjoy!
How to Store Peanut Butter Oatmeal Granola
Place the cooled granola into an airtight container (a glass jar works great and looks pretty, too!) and use within two weeks.
Pro tip: let the granola cool completely before storing, to get more clusters of granola! If it’s still warm, it’ll break into finer pieces.
